How to get to UTHM


This institution is situated in Parit Raja, 20 minutes (15KM) from Ayer Hitam. It has excellent road links with the rest of PLUS highways which is accesible if you are travelling through exit 244. It is easily accessible from Kuala Lumpur in the North and Johor Bahru in the South using the North - South Highway through the Ayer Hitam exit. 
Transportation

By Plane - UTHM is located approximately 80 kilometers away from Sultan Ismail International Airport, Senai, Johor. Taxi services with a standard fare of MYR 100 is charged from the airport to UTHM. For more information on routes and flights please visithttp://www.senaiairport.com/ . By Train - This mode of transportation is provided by Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM). The nearest KTM station is located in Kluang, Johor 30KM away from UTHM. Frequent services run from east, north and south region of Peninsular Malaysia. Dataran Penggaram

This place was formerly known as Batu Pahat Fountain as there was once a fountain there. It was developed and opened for public since May 1961. In conjunction with the declaration of Batu Pahat as Batu Pahat Township the name was since changed to Batu Pahat Square. The rebranding of the square was also largely due to the refurbishment process it had gone through. Consequently, the square now is a multi purpose point for local community activities ranging from hosting cultural shows to religous ceremonies. 
Tasik Y Near to Dataran Penggaram, there is a lake which was previously a mining area. However, it is now reclaimed as a recreational place for the public use. It is fully equipped with recreational facilities such as playground, excercising equipment, gazebo, jogging track and a reflexology area. Other than that, there are eating outlets available at the lake area. Mostly the outlets are popular for their Yong Tau Foo and ABC (shaved ice with condiments) . Routinely, on good weather day, it hosts J-Robik (aerobic) program on every Sunday morning, which is program is open for the public.
Pantai Minyak Beku Although this beach is no longer suitable for swinmming activities, it still attracts many people for its popular fishing spots, refreshing and picturesque surrounding. There are also a fisherman village and a quarry processing gravels and sand. The most suitable spot in this area are Kampung Orang Asli (Aborigine Village) and Perkampungan Nelayan Cina Segenting (Segenting Chinese Fisherman Village). Perigi Batu Pahat which is located in Pantai Minyak Beku is the place where the name Batu Pahat was originated. The distance from Batu Pahat town to Minyak Beku is 8KM that would normally take up to a 20 minute- drive on a long winding road.

Punggor Beach Punggor Beach is set in a scenic village area. Even the beach is no more suitable for swimming it still offers a breathtaking scenery especially for the nature lovers. Those who are interested in fishing activity, Punggor is considered as the best place.

BP Walk BP walk is an area in Jalan Rahmat that offers many kind of local and international cuisines. It opens from 3 pm till 4am daily. It is a spot that gathers people from the viccinity mostly for having their dinner and supper.

Ayer Hitam Ayer Hitam town draws people from other states to come over for its high quality ceramics and artificial flowers products. Apart from that, a growing number of business outlets in the town now offers bridal needs and home decorations. Agro-tourism is another attraction of the town, as at present it bears the largest modern agricultural center in the country.
Parit Raja Parit Raja is well-known for its food industry namely local traditional foods like rempeyek, sun dried banana, etc. According to an unrecorded history, Parit Raja gets its name when a royalty dropped by the area to get a drink. The residents of the area mostly earn their livings through agricultural, fishery and business activities.

Mee Bandung - The most exquisite Mee Bandung (Bandung Noodle) is offerred by Mee Bandung Odeon which sited in front of Garden Hotel.

Asam Pedas - Batu Pahat is also known for its tempting asam pedas. Usually food hunters flock at a stall next to Batu Pahat Post Office atJalan Rahmat.

Cendol - Cendol is the most popular local dessert. A cendol stall at Jalan Omar particulary offers the most scrumptious Cendol Gelas (Cendol in a glass).

1. Apakah itu UTHM?
Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) ialah sebuah Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Awam (IPTA) Malaysia yang ke-15.
2. Bila UTHM ditubuhkan?

Sejarah Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia bermula pada 16 September 1993 dengan penubuhan Pusat Latihan Staf Politeknik (PLSP), yang bertujuan melahirkan dan melatih tenaga pengajar yang berpengetahuan dan berkemahiran dalam pelbagai bidang kejuruteraan untuk sistem politeknik di negara ini.

Sebagai pengiktirafan kepada sebuah institusi teknologi yang cemerlang dalam mengharungi perkembangan pendidikan negara terutama keupayaan menangani isu pembangunan sumber manusia khasnya dalam bidang teknikal di negara ini membawa kepada pengisytiharan nama baru iaitu Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (ITTHO) pada 12 April 1996 oleh Y.B Menteri Pendidikan Malaysia pada masa itu, Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Abdul Razak.

Dengan kelebihan dan kejayaan melaksanakan tanggungjawab sebagai penyumbang kepada perkembangan yang berteraskan sains dan teknologi dan bertindak sebagai nadi penggerak dalam membantu merealisasikan peranan negara serta kepercayaan oleh kerajaan, maka kabinet pada 27 September 2000 telah bersetuju menaiktaraf ITTHO kepada sebuah Universiti di bawah Akta 30 Akta Universiti dan Kolej Universiti 1971 (AUKU) dan dikenali dengan nama Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (KUiTTHO).

Lembaran baru perjalanan menuju puncak kegemilangan institusi ini diselak lagi apabila mesyuarat Kabinet yang telah diadakan pada 20 September 2006 telah meluluskan untuk menukar nama KUiTTHO yang akan dikenali sebagai Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). 1 Februari 2007 merupakan satu tarikh keramat kepada semua warga universiti apabila Datuk Mustapa bin Mohamed, Menteri Pengajian Tinggi membuat pengumuman rasmi mengenai perkara tersebut. Majlis Perisytiharan Universiti Tun Hussein Onn (UTHM) telah berlangsung pada 2 Mac 2007 dan dirasmikan oleh Y. B. Dato’ Hishamuddin bin Tun Hussein Onn.
3. Dimanakah lokasi UTHM?
Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) adalah terletak di Parit Raja, Batu Pahat, Johor Darul Takzim. Kedudukan UTHM adalah terletak di antara perjalanan Batu Pahat - Air Hitam. Perjalanan yang perlu diambil untuk sampai ke UTHM sekiranya dari Bandar Batu Pahat adalah mengambil masa lebih kurang 30 minit (20 KM) dan 15 minit dari Pekan Air Hitam (15 KM). Bagi para pengguna Lebuhraya Utara - Selatan, mereka perlu memasuki ke persimpangan lebuhraya Air Hitam / Batu Pahat untuk sampai ke UTHM.

Requests for forms by post must be accompanied by a 28cm x 34cm self-addressed envelope with a RM1.20 stamp and a Postal/Money Order for the sum of RM5.00 made payable to “Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia”. Completed forms (including relevant supporting documents) must be returned to us together with a Postal/Money Order for the sum of RM10.00 as processing fee made payable to “Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia”. International applicants

Admission Requirement
Masters Programmes A bachelor’s degree with honours from UTHM or any other recognised institutions or qualifications of the same level as well as experience in related fields recognised by the Senate of UTHM.
Doctorate Programmes A master’s degree from UTHM or any other recognised institutions, or other qualifications of the same level with experience recognised by the Senate, or is currently pursuing a master programme in UTHM and the application is endorsed by the Graduate Studies Committee with the consent of the Senate.

Type Of Courses

UTHM offers two types of courses, i.e., coursework and research. Availability of a specific type of course is subject to the decision of the faculty.
Coursework
A coursework course involves lectures, seminars and master’s projects. Each subject is approximately 3 credits while a research project or master’s project ranges from 6 to 10 credits. A master’s project may be completed within one or two semesters, subject to the requirement of the specific course of study. A two-semester project consists of Project I (2 credits) and project 2 (4 credits) while a one-semester project carries 10 credits.
Research
A research course is based totally on research. For each semester, a research student will have to register for one subject, that is research, in addition to university compulsory subjects or pre-requisite subjects depending on the requirements. The semester grade is based on the progress report.
Modes and Duration
Students intake is done twice a year; intakes for June session and November session. Prospective students can either register in Jun or November semester. Types of available study modes are: i) Full Time Studies ii) Part Time Studies
