UTHM Hosts Digital Innovathon Symposium 2025, Showcasing National Digital Talent and Strengthening Malaysia’s Tech Ecosystem

BATU PAHAT, 3 November 2025 – Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), through the Information Technology Club (ITC), successfully hosted the Digital Innovathon Symposium 2025 (DINS 2025), a premier national platform celebrating innovation, creativity, and digital transformation. The event brought together 61 participants across 18 groups, representing UTHM, UNITEN, UTM, and Kolej Yayasan UEM.

The symposium highlighted emerging trends in sustainable innovation, AI and digital transformation, social innovation, and inclusivity, reinforcing UTHM’s growing role in shaping Malaysia’s future digital ecosystem. DINS 2025 was supported by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) as the main sponsor, alongside 0day Academy and RunCloud Education as secondary sponsors. Ten media partners from university tech clubs nationwide also contributed to broadening the event’s visibility.

Although the physical symposium took place on 3 November at Perpustakaan Tunku Tun Aminah (PTTA), UTHM, the official online opening ceremony was held earlier on 24 November 2025. The event on 3 November was graced by Mr. Nik Hishamudin, Head of Tertiary at MDEC, who commended UTHM and FSKTM for their continuous commitment to cultivating digital talent. He praised the university’s proactive efforts in driving innovation at the grassroots level and highlighted DINS as a strong example of how academia can play a pivotal role in shaping Malaysia’s future digital workforce.

Participants showcased their solutions through project demonstrations, pitches, and innovation presentations. Impressively, all top three awards were won by UTHM teams, reflecting the strength of the university’s digital talent pipeline.

A few days after the event, UTHM through the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FSKTM) was officially granted a three-year extension of its Premier Digital Tech Institution (PDTI) status, underscoring the university’s consistent performance and contribution to Malaysia’s digital transformation agenda.

FSKTM reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing future-ready graduates, stating that DINS 2025 strengthens UTHM’s mission of developing global technopreneurs and aligns directly with the aspirations of Global Technoprenuer University 2030 (GTU 2030). The faculty emphasised that such platforms are crucial in accelerating digital startup culture and industry–academia collaboration.

As the curtains close on DINS 2025, UTHM and ITC expressed optimism about expanding the symposium next year, with aspirations for wider inter-university collaboration and deeper industry engagement—cementing its position as a flagship digital innovation event in Malaysia.
